Non renewal of ICICI lombard mediclaim policy
Greetings,
ICICI LOMBARD has issued me health insurance policy in the year 19th July 2006 and the same has been renewed by Health Insurance Renewal by the above number in July 2008. At the end of the month of July 2008 I have been detected with cancer of stomach and has been operated for the same. The said insurance company has paid me the sum assured for 2 yrs in 2008-2009 & in 2009-2010.
Now when the time for renewal of the policy has come and as I am perusing the matter with them & their back office, I had come to know & told bluntly about their reluctance to renew the same as I am being detected with cancer.
On the other hand New India Assurance Company of which I have also get the policy of heath insurance, they had renewed the same in the month of April 2010.
Please help me in this matter.Thanking you & oblige.

R/S,
Madness prevails at ‘mediassist’ india private limited.
As evil prevails at ‘mediassist’ when good men do nothing.
For your kind information people at ‘mediassist’ india private limited have now started a last ditch effort to deny reimbursement of my dues amounting to Rs. 23056.50/-
They are only trying to save a little bounty out of a sick woman’s worst ever cries.
Please note that all the demanded documents relating to my two days hospitalisation till follow up treatment of my wife for one and half month with Original Receipts and other papers amounting to total claim amount Rs. 23056.50/- have been already deposited to ‘mediassist’ wide receipt no. 54 dated 13 may 2010, No. 2 dated 6th April 2010 and receipt no 43 dated 19th March 2010 by Mr. Raju.
The Fact should be duly noted that each and every information including the alleged demanded documents such as receipts, HW Claim Form and Past Policy Details etc. had already been physically got verified by the concerned executives personally who had attended me during my visits to mediassist’s office at Customer Service Department, Medi-Assist India TPA Private Limited, F-2, Kailash Plaza, H-252, (2nd Floor), Sant Nagar, East of Kailash, Delhi-110065.
And you know! I have every paper’s photocopy singly & separately got stamped with receipt nos. of 54 dated 13 may 2010, No. 2 dated 6th April 2010 and receipt no 43 dated 19th March 2010.
For Details please find attachment of related emails/letters.
Now it is my humble request to please help me and protect my rights as a policy holder so that I would get my claim reimbursed at the earliest possible without further delay from the dreaded clutches of an ‘evil’ TPA known as ‘Med Assist’ India Private Limited.
The total outstanding amount is Rs. 23056.50/- at this stage including follow up till 30th April 2010.
Thanking you in anticipation.

Non settlement of OPD bills
Dear Sir,
I had a policy of ICICI Lombard with OPD cover Health Insurance.I send my claim to my agent Akash who got it collected in Feb’10 from my residence.(all OPd bills). vide policy no 4063i/HAP/04540245/00/000 but have not received cheque for the same amount, hence refused to further extend the policy. It is surprising that such big companies do not settle the promised claims despite sending all documents in time and harrassing the said person by the Agent-Akash.
Kindly re-imburse my claim of an amount of Rs 8500/- at the earliest or otherwise I take up with higher agencies for addressal of my claim.
Regards
Seema Chandra

How to know if your health insurance cover is sufficient or not?
There will be times when you underestimate about the cover amount that you need and then as medical inflation continues, your cover amount may prove to be insufficient, especially for a family floater. Your Agent will sell you a product but will not necessarily give you good enough advice regarding the same.
What you can do?
Even after buying a health insurance policy, if you realise that the cover amount is insufficient, you can take a Top-up health insurance policy or Super top-up policy which adds additional cover amount at a very economical rate. Thus you get additional cover without buying another policy.

Can Health Insurance Premium amount change?
Ideally, the product you buy is the one which gives you maximum benefits at a reasonable price. But one thing that the Agent forgets to tell you when you are selecting a product is that your premium amount will change and most likely increase. The two reasons for the increase are- Age and Claims you have made.
The logic is as you grow old, you are at an increased risk to suffer from ailments and thus more likely to claim and thus at a greater risk calling for a higher premium.
What you can do?
Before buying health insurance policy, check three things- the renewable age (the age till which you can be covered in the policy), Loading chart (with percentage calculations) and the Premium chart (the premium rates according to your present age).

How important it is to read Policy Wording?
Yes policy wording is very important. The best way of understanding if a product is good or bad would be by reading its policy wordings and here is where your agent may not be helpful. Most Agents will show you the brochure of the policy which will contain all the positives of the policy and its features. Since an average customer will not ask about the policy wordings, they miss out on knowing what exactly they are getting. It is only after you pay the premium that you get the policy wordings
Health insurance in India is hospitalization insurance that covers the hospitalization costs incurred in India but there are conditions and exceptions. There are numerous exclusions (things not covered) in the policy (OPD, dental, cosmetic, alternative (non-allopathic) treatments, etc.) and a number of waiting periods (Pre-existing -4 years, Surgeries for Cataract, Hernia- 2 years) which you need to know before you buy health insurance policy.
